Loopy Vintage Santa Hat

This is a version of a Santa Hat I have made for my own family  It has gone through many changes over the years.

The loopy brim and oversized pompom are what make this hat special to me.  The broken rib pattern used in the body of the hat, add detail and moderate stretch.

The pattern is written in a small (18")and large (20") size, It can be adjusted, by increasing or decreasing stitches in multiples of 4.

The loopy brim takes a bit to get, but once you do, you do. A video link is included in the pattern. Metal needles are definitely recommended when working the brim, especially when using the recommended Briggs and Little Tuffy yarn., also availiable here, in the online shop.

This pattern requires Briggs and Little Tuffy, in Red Mix and Ecru.  One skein of each. Alternate yarns can be used, at the same gauge. The pattern also requires  4.0mm 24" circulars and 3.75mm 24" circulars, with DPN's being optional for the final decreases.  Personally, I switched to a magic loop, when I hit the decreasing.
